It's HOLIDAY TIME!
=D
I've been lazying my days away so far.
Was busy taking wedding photos over the weekend though.
My fingers are aching from holding on to the shutter, my arm is hurting from the weight of the camera+flash, and my foot is aching from being stepped on by the groom.
=3
I'm going to go over to Derek's place to bake cookies one of these days.
Hehehe~
Or is it he bake and I watch?
xD
My boyfriend is awesome.
He's always feeding me, catering to what I want. and practically bending over to suit me.
=D
Lucky me~

iPad!
iWant!
OMGN.
It's like the awesomest thing of the year already.
I might consider going to work during the school holidays just to get that iPad.
xD
There's a SD card slot add-on so that I upload my D90 photos directly onto the iPad.
Imagine showing off my photos in all it's glory!
AHHH!
SO AWESOME!
And then, imagine a JAILBREAK FOR iPAD!
SNOW LEOPARD ON iPAD!
Unlikely, but possible innit?
Or, maybe even tethered shooting with the iPad screen as the humongus screen for the DSLR!
WAHHHHHHH!
At this rate I won't be upgrading my iPhone for a while.
LOL..
Maybe the generation after, like 6th?
xD
My iPad will store all the photos and videos and whatever else while my iPhone can be my music player and phone.
=D
APPLE, HEAR OUR PLEA!
ITUNES STORE FOR SINGAPORE!
Hahahahaha!
If I get this I won't need to bring my mac to school for lectures anymore.
I can just take notes on iPad!
And then, I can do my photo editing directly on it as well.
I hope adobe will create photoshop for iPad.
Wow.
At this rate, I'm going to have to save for a 64gb iPad.
Hahaha.
I'm going to try to save for a 32gb iPad without 3G.
I doubt the 3G will arrive in Singapore that soon, and I already have an iPhone anyway.
There'll probably be a way to tether the iPhone 3G onto the iPad.
Haha.

Haha.
Pepper is super stubborn.
She keeps refusing to finish her food and keeps jumping onto the sofa even though I told her not to do it before I give permission.
Haha.
Earlier today I played with the Canon EOS 1D MkIII and 70-200mm F4.
I now see why everyone says that the 70-200 is a good portrait lens.
Anyways, I've found an awesome camera bag!
She keeps refusing to finish her food and keeps jumping onto the sofa even though I told her not to do it before I give permission.
Haha.
She was so cute earlier.
I said out loud that she didn't finish her food, and after a while, when I walked to the door with my coin pouch, she quickly ran to the bowl to eat more of the leftovers.
xD
Like she was trying to prove that she is a good girl and deserves to go out with me.
SO CUTE!
And, I finally trained her to only come up when given permission.
=D
She'll wait and look at me hoping to get the OK.
xD
MY BABY IS SO CUTE!!!

It really is awesome for portraits.
xD
But still, when all is said and done, I still love my Nikon D90.
Going to kope darling's D300s since he has gone to the dark side.
And so I want to save and get a telephoto lens ASAP.
But that is unlikely to happen.
But that is unlikely to happen.
xD
Anyways, I've found an awesome camera bag!
It's a Kata KT DR-467 .
It looks like a normal pink and white backpack from outside.
Inside, it holds LOTS of things.

Last Saturday we brought Pepper to the vet.
Ah yee got a shock.
Turns out that the vet who was attending to Pepper that day was the one that warned her about sending Poppy for a checkup.
They assigned him to that particular branch.
=)
I was pretty happy.
Haha.
BTW, the vet's name is Brian something and he works at Animal Recovery Center.
He's pretty awesome.
Anyways, Pepper is in awesome health, we had blood tests and everything done.
=D
In that few days we managed to get her weight into the healthy range and her fur is so nice and lush.
We're joking that Pepper's true colors are starting to show.
Haha.
She only does tricks when she knows it would benefit her, and the last few days she kept trying to jump up to the sofa just minutes after we told her to get off.
xD
I solved that by buying her her own doggie bed.
She absolutely adores it.
=D
Next up is a doggie bag to carry her around.
=)
I've already bought her plenty of toys and treats.
She's always following me around whenever I'm home and apparently sulks when I'm not.
Earlier in the evening, when I returned home, ah yee took a while to get off the sofa and open the door for me.
Pepper knew I was outside cos I rang the doorbell, and she went to ah yee and barked at her to hurry up.
Haha.
It was the first time we heard her bark!
She whines pretty often but we haven't heard any other sounds from her other than variants of whines.
And after that, when godpa and godma came home, she actually growled at them.
I have no idea why she did that, but she did!
Haha.
She was on high alert and staring at them, but she was okay when godma patted her.
LOL..
Strange eh?
Pepper is now sleeping next to me in her dog bed and I'm also going to sleep on the sofa.
Good night!
Saturday, January 02, 2010
I moved to the living room last night so that I could sleep with Pepper.
Since godpa said that leaving her in her crate is cruel, we are going to let her sleep next to my sofa tonight.
Actually, crates are pretty awesome things when used the right way.
We often find dogs sleeping under a table or sofa, and that is because of their "den" instinct.
They love having a safe cozy place to call their own.
A crate provides the "den" feeling and gives the dog a place of their own where no one is allowed to disturb them.
It makes them feel secure.
It's like how we like to have our own bedrooms.
A crate is a bedroom for the dog!
http://www.canismajor.com/dog/crate2.html <-- This is a pretty good info site about crates and what they're used for.
http://www.petfinder.com/pet-training/benefits-dog-crate-training.html <-- This is about the benefits of crate training.
=)
I used to have the misconception that crates were basically dog cages and the poor doggie didn't have any freedom, but now I think otherwise.
Of course, there will always be people that misuse the crate and really use them as cages to confine dogs.
=(
But, the point is, when used correctly, a crate is a good way to train dogs and keep them safe.
As Pepper is still pretty skinny, we're going to wait on sending her to the vet for spaying.
She will be getting a complete check-up at the same time.
=3
We'll be bringing her for her vaccinations tomorrow.
And I will probably microchip her too.
Haha.
My boyfriend finally came back from Korea and bought me some presents.
=D
But I didn't get the Herringbone bag I wanted.
Ah well.
=(
It was kinda expensive anyway.
But I really, really liked it.
=(

Quite a few things happened since the last time I posted.
We found out that Poppy had some form of cancer and that it was really advanced, and it was to the point that she wouldn't eat or drink.
She was going to die from starvation, so mummy decided to put her down.
I was so sure that I wouldn't have another miniature schnauzer, because I didn't want to replace her with someone else.
So after a few days, I started looking around for another dog that would be suitable for my kind of lifestyle.
I dropped by Soo Kee Kennel to look at their puppies, and I fell in love with a beautiful papillon, but the price put me off.
Besides, I didn't really feel a connection with her.
I started looking around adoption pages and I saw a picture of a dog that was about the same age as Poppy was.
There was a blog address on that page, so I clicked on it, and got a HUGE shock.
She looked EXACTLY like Poppy in the photo there!
I showed Ah Yee the next day, and she got interested, so we went down to just take a look, not really expecting anything.
Pepper was really not what we expected.
While her coat color was lighter, there was no doubt about it.
She was the split image of Poppy, just skinnier and lighter colored.
She clung on to us when we carried her, and we fell in love with not just her looks, but also her personality.
She was so manja and cute that she completely melted our hearts.
=3
Before we left, we already knew that we were going to get her home by crook or by hook.
It was just a matter of HOW.
When we were about to leave, we put her back in her crate, and she gave us those puppy dog eyes, like "What? You're going to leave me here?"
TT_TT
I couldn't sleep the whole night, and the next day, I couldn't concentrate though I was supposed to be doing my project work.
I rushed down after school to bring her home.
Haha.
I brought over the collar I bought in Bangkok that turned out to be too small for Popper and it fits her perfectly!
It breaks my heart when I think of how her ex-owners treated her.
She is really sweet and eager to please.
How could they have ever raised their hand against her?
Gosh, I heard that when she was first picked up from them she was practically skin and bones!
How could they have done such a thing to a harmless and defenseless animal.
And to think that she suffered for more than 3 years with them!
TT_TT
Well, her nightmare is over now.
Her home is with me from here on, and I promised her and myself that I will never neglect her or ever submit her to such torture again.
I think it wasn't really the physical abuse that really hurt her, she is more hardy than that.
It was more of the neglect that really left an impact.
These two days that she has been with me, she rarely stops to sit down.
She keeps walking around the house, just to see if we're going to stop her.
She keeps nudging our hand and making sure that our attention is on her, and if it's not, we have to have physical contact with her.
I guess it hasn't really sunk in that she is finally free from them.
If I ever find out who they are, I will make sure I tell them off.
What kind of example are the parents setting for the children?
How in the world are they bringing them up?
And, horror of horrors, the children pass it on to their own kids and their friends.
One day life is going to bite their ass for doing this to her.
>.<
And I hope I'm around to see it happen.
=X
Meh.
Anyways, those days are over for Pepper.
Right now she is pretty much settled here, just that the floor is kinda slippery so her "sit" becomes "down".
xD
Because she was abused and neglected, she got a shock when Ah Mah raised her hand, and it looked like she was going to hit her, so she freaked out and jumped into my lap and refused to leave.
I was so surprised!
It was really like I'm her mummy.
Haha.
I can't wait to move to the new house so that she can sleep with me in my bedroom.
She's sleeping in her crate in the living room now.
TT_TT
Poppy was like the spoilt only daughter of the family while Pepper is like the neglected middle child.
=3
Me loves Pepper very muchie.
But me still loves Poppy lots too!
Another thing is, I finally got my Wii and the Tamron 17-50!
=D
So happy!
Cos I AM an only child, I bought Rabbids Go Home to play.
It's a very fun game about very stupid rabbids.
Just youtube it and you'll see.
Haha.
I was planning to play with my new lens, but I got busy with other things.
xD
But so far I find that it really does hunt quite a bit in low light situations, although it's still a pretty good lens.
Ah well, you get what you pay for.

I've been watching a lot of Gossip Girl recently.
It's so interesting!
Drama is good for a television show, but not for real life.
LOL..
I'm actually quite sick right now.
Having a very bad sore throat and cold.
Rested at home the day before and most of yesterday.
I went out in the evening though.
Went to look for Uncle Harun at Harvey Norman to ask him about the new AFS 70-200 VR2.
It's a totally drool-worthy lens.
My boyfriend is getting it!
XD
Well, probably getting it.
Hahaha.
So I'm going to push my lens purchase a further back so that I can play with his lens too.
I just got my AFS 35mm F1.8 anyway.
=D
I'm so going to get my Tamron 17-50mm F2.8.
I got to play with the Nikkor AFS 17-55mm earlier and I didn't like it.
The zoom ring was narrow, very close to the body and super stiff, while the focus ring was pretty broad and easy to turn.
It's too heavy for me too.
It's twice as heavy as the Tamron I want!
After trying the Nikkor, I can safely say that the Tamron is more suited for me.
But the colors from the Nikkor are totally GORGEOUS.
Not worth the extra $2000 though.
=(
Focusing speed and sharpness of the Tamron is pretty much good enough.
=D
But the colors on the Nikkor really pop out, and the sharpness is like no other.
=O
Tamron is the way to go though.
Hahaha.
And I was reading about another lens the other day, the Tokina 11-16mm F2.8.
This one doesn't have a built-in focussing motor, which is a good thing cos the ones in the D90 and D300s body are good enough.
=D
After reading the review on Ken Rockwell, I was all @_@
But I don't shoot landscapes so I don't need that.
Haha.
The Tamron is a better choice for me.
But I wouldn't mind having both since they cover different lengths anyway.
xD
